Open That Bottle Night - OTBN
Do you have that special bottle of wine stored away, waiting for the perfect celebratory time to open it, but never find an occasion special enough? You know that bottle that you purchased on a special vacation or maybe received as an anniversary gift. All of us have that one single bottle of wine we simply can never bear to open. Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher, wine columnists for the Wall Street Journal, created "Open That Bottle Night" or OTBN, which is always held on the last Saturday in February. It is designed to give people the reason to open that special bottle of wine that sits around and never gets opened because the right occasion never arises. Their article talks about the fond memories associated with the bottle of wine that flow when these special bottles are finally opened.
The 10th annual Open That Bottle Night (OTBN 10) is scheduled for February 28, 2009. Remember, OTBN is a time for fun and fond memories. John Brecher said, "Wine is not just liquid in a bottle, it's memories."
So, how do you participate in OTBN? First and most important, grab that bottle you are saving. Don't worry about whether it's over the hill. This event is about the memories, not about the liquid itself. Now's the time to open that special bottle of wine and remember the visit to the winery or the special occasion and reminisce about that special day.
Let your memories run wild as you recreate a special occasion by opening and drinking that special bottle of wine. |
